chinesejade.org is devoted to presenting Chinese jade culture to a worldwide readership with rigour, system and openness. Its contents are compiled from settled mineralogical scholarship, China's national standards (GB/T 16552, 16553, 38821-2020) and the transmitted classics — the Rites of Zhou, the Book of Rites, the Shuowen Jiezi — with disputed matters noted as such.
The editorial charter: nomenclature follows the national standards; every historical claim carries its source, with legend and record kept distinct; all images are public-domain or Creative-Commons licensed and individually credited; the text is continually revised, with substantive changes logged on the News page.
The archive is built in six volumes — taxonomy, nephrite, jadeite, history, culture and the collection — each destined to grow into finer chapters and catalogues as material is added. Corrections from scholars and collectors are respectfully awaited.
Jade is the fairest of stones. May this archive stand as a rubbing, taken in the digital age, of a vein eight thousand years long.
The official chinesejade.org applications are in preparation — offline browsing of the collection, a quick reference to jade taxonomy and full bilingual reading — arriving on iOS and Android together.
